Formel 1-sæsonen 1984 er den 35. sæson af Formel 1- verdensmesterskabet . Det begyndte den 25. marts 1984 og sluttede den 21. oktober , bestod af 16 etaper. Denne sæson blev der for første gang siden 1950 ikke afholdt et eneste Formel 1-løb uden for mesterskabet i løbet af året [1] .

Forsæson

For at reducere hastigheden i denne sæson begrænsede FIA brændstoftankens størrelse til 220 liter og indførte et forbud mod tankning under løbet [2] .

Nelson Piquet og Brabham - BMWs sejre sidste år beviste, at for at være konkurrencedygtig i Formel 1 skal du have en turboladet motor . Så forskellige hold begyndte at udstyre deres motorer med turbo. Williams skiftede til Honda turboladede motorer i det sidste løb i 1983 - sæsonen. McLaren skiftede til TAG Porsche- motorer , RAM og Spirit (efterladt af oppasseren Honda ) skiftede til Hart -motorer , Ligier skiftede til Renault -motorer , Osella skiftede til Alfa Romeo-motorer , Arrows fik BMW -motorer , men efter at have underskrevet en kontrakt sent, startede de sæson med Cosworth DFV . Tyrrell var det eneste hold, der ikke skiftede til en turboladet motor, og mange latterliggjorde dem for at droppe Renault -turboerne og fortsætte med at køre en modificeret version af Cosworth DFV .

Mesterskabsresultater

Monaco Grand Prix blev skåret ned til 40% på grund af regn, så kørerne fik kun halvdelen af pointene.

Jo Gartner og Gerhard Berger fik ikke 2. og 1. point for henholdsvis 5. og 6. i Italiens Grand Prix, da holdene Osella og ATS kun tilmeldte sig én bil hver til verdensmesterskabet.

Den 18. juli 1984 blev Tyrrell-holdet diskvalificeret fra alle sæsonens løb for at bryde reglerne og bortvist fra de resterende løb, selvom de fik lov til at konkurrere indtil en appelsag den 29. august 1984.
