Formel 1-sæsonen 1981 - inden for hvilken det 32. FIA Formel 1-verdensmesterskab blev afholdt . Direkte 15 etaper af World Cup blev afholdt fra 15. marts til 17. oktober . Også i sæsonen var der et ekstra Grand Prix.

Turneringens struktur og dens navn er ændret. Hvis der indtil 1981 var et parallelt verdensmesterskab for kørere ( Eng.  World Championship for Drivers ) og International Cup for F1 Constructors ( Eng.  International Cup for F1 Constructors ), så har der siden 1981 været et nyt officielt navn fast - Formel 1 World Championship ( eng.  Formel 1 World Championship ), som omfattede både en personlig stilling for piloter og et konstruktørmesterskab for hold [1] .

Mesterskabsbegivenheder

Den første etape af turneringen skulle være Sydafrikas Grand Prix , men på grund af konflikten mellem FISA og FOCA , selv om løbet fandt sted (7. februar), deltog kun FOCA- tilhængere i det (som ikke omfattede Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Ligier og Renault), startede Osella heller ikke. Resultaterne af konkurrencen blev ikke taget i betragtning i verdensmesterskabets stilling [2] .

Kørernes stilling

Point blev optjent af de seks bedste kørere i løbet, som fik henholdsvis 9, 6, 4, 3, 2 og 1 point. I piloternes personlige stilling tages der hensyn til resultaterne fra de 11 bedste løb.

Konstruktørmesterskab

Konstruktører modtog 9, 6, 4, 3, 2 og 1 point hver afhængigt af løbets resultater. Ved pointberegning blev resultaterne af alle løb taget i betragtning.
