International Earth Rotation Service (ISER) er en international tjeneste til at estimere parametrene for jordens rotation og koordinater baseret i Paris . Ansvarlig for at opretholde universel tid, standard celestial ( ICRS ) og terrestriske ( ITRS ) koordinatsystemer . Derudover er organisationen ansvarlig for at tilføje skudsekunder til UTC- tid .
Tjenesten omfatter afdelingen Predictions of Earth Orientation Parameters baseret på US Naval Observatory . Afdelingen er engageret i at udføre astrometriske observationer for at bestemme vinkelhastigheden af jordens rotation, parametrene for præcession , nutation . Andre afdelinger er på Paris Observatory .
Historie
IERS blev dannet i 1987 af International Astronomical and International Geodetic and Geophysical Unions som en erstatning for International Polar Motion Service (IPMS ) og Earth Rotation Observation Division under International Bureau of Time . Tjenesten begyndte sit arbejde den 1. januar 1988.
