Scyphophorus acupunctatus  (lat.)  - en art af biller fra familien af ​​snudebiller eller elefanter ( Curculionidae eller Dryophthoridae , stammen Rhynchophorini eller Sphenophorini). Et farligt landbrugsskadedyr [1] der ødelægger op til 40 % af blå agave , hvorfra man får tequila [2] .

Beskrivelse

Mellemstore snudebiller, længde 10-19 mm, hovedfarven er sort. Antennal flagelum 6-segmenteret, scape cylindrisk. Tarsi 5-segmenteret (3. segment bredere end 2. og ventralt tolobed). Pronotum kortere end elytra. Rostrum kort (kortere end pronotum sammen med elytra). Scutellum har en subtriangulær form og en maksimal bredde ved sin base. Mellem- og bagskinneben længere end 1-4 tarsale segmenter. Hele livscyklussen tager fra 50 til 90 dage, fra 4 til 5 generationer om året. De lever af agave , herunder den blå agave ( Agáve tequilána ), som tjener som en vigtig kilde til alkoholholdige drikkevarer såsom tequila , mezcal og pulque .
