Polyrachis [1] ( lat.  Polyrhachis ) er en slægt af myrer , fra underfamilien af ​​formicina , herunder tropiske og subtropiske arter specialiseret til at leve på træer. Omkring 600 arter [2] .

Fordeling

Findes i troperne og subtroperne (pantropisk område): Australien , Afrika , Sydasien . To arter forekommer i det palæarktiske område . Ikke tilgængelig i Europa og Amerika.

Beskrivelse

Myrer af mellemstørrelse (5-15 mm) med pigge på kroppen (på brystet og bladstilken ).

Økologi

De fører en trælevende livsstil, nogle bruger den silke, der udskilles af larverne til at bygge rede (såvel som vævermyrer ). Der er fundet en flydende art , Polyrhachis sokolova , som kan overleve under vandet i mangrover under højvande [3] . Larver og pupper af mølformede sommerfugle af slægten Niphopyralis ( Pyralidae , Lepidoptera ) lever i rederne af myrer af slægterne Oecophylla og Polyrhachis [4] .

Systematik

Tilhører stammen Camponotini , hvor den er den næststørste slægt målt i antal arter efter Camponotus ( Camponotus ). Op til 20 underslægter blev skelnet af forskellige forfattere [5] . Molekylær data (Mezger og Moreau, 2016) bekræftede monofylien af ​​slægten Polyrhachis og nogle af dens 13 anerkendte underslægter. Imidlertid har Campomyrma Wheeler vist sig at omfatte to forskellige klader; og at grænserne for underslægten Hagiomyrma Wheeler forblev uklare i denne analyse; at underslægten Myrma Billberg kan behandles som en eller to klader; at underslægten Myrmhopla Forel ikke er monofyletisk, som tidligere antydet. Biogeografisk analyse har vist udviklingen af ​​slægten Polyrhachis og dens oprindelse fra Sydøstasien, med en alder af Polyrhachis- rodgruppen omkring 58 Ma. Deres penetration fra Yu.-V. Asien til Australien forekom flere gange, men kun en gang trængte de ind i Afrika omkring 26 Ma [6] .
