Beskrivelse

De har en gullig farve, 47-67 par ben [4] [2] . Antennerne er mindre end fire gange så lange som hovedet [5] .

Genetik

Karyotypen blev undersøgt i arten Geophilus linearis , hvis kromosomsæt består af 8 par kromosomer [9] .

Palæontologi

Tre arter af Geophilus brevicaudatus , Geophilus crassicornis og Geophilus filiformis er kendt i fossil tilstand fra baltisk rav [10] .
