Etheostoma (lat.) er en slægt af strålefinnede fisk fra underfamilien Etheostomatinae af aborrefamilien [1] .
Beskrivelse
Bundfisk, fundet på stenet jord. Hanner af mange arter er farvestrålende i gydeperioden og står i skarp kontrast til ubeskrivelige farvede hunner [1] .
Fordeling
Sortimentet dækker Nordamerika. De fleste af arterne lever i USA , andre findes i Canada og Mexico [2] [3] .
Klassifikation
Etheostoma er den største slægt af ferskvandsfisk i Nordamerika og afveg sandsynligvis fra nært beslægtede slægter for omkring 20 millioner år siden [4] . Slægten er underopdelt i 17 eller 18 underslægter med 126 arter [5] [1] .
