Rådet for Yukon First Nations , tidligere Yukon Indian Council , er en organisation , der forener de indiske organisationer i det canadiske Yukon Territory , kaldet de første nationer i Canada .
I 1968 blev Yukon Native Brotherhood , en del af National Indian Brotherhood , dannet . I 1973 forelagde repræsentanter for broderskabet, ledet af Elijah Smith ( eng. Elijah Smith ) regeringen for Pierre Trudeau i Ottawa et dokument kaldet "Together Today for Our Children Tomorrow" [1] .
I 1973 blev Yukon Indian Council dannet af to Yukon Indian-organisationer , Yukon Native Brotherhood og Yukon Association of Non-Status Indians . Rådets hovedmål var indiske samfunds kamp for jordrettigheder i Yukon-territoriet. Senere fusionerede alle tre organisationer til én, kaldet Council of Yukon Indians, som senere blev til Rådet for Yukon First Nations.
Næsten alle "First Nations" i Yukon-territoriet er organiseret i Yukon Council of First Nations, bortset fra to Kaska -organisationer ( Ross River Dena og Liard River ), Upper Tanan- organisationen ( White River ) og organisationer, hvis hovedterritorium for det meste ligger udenfor uden for Yukon ( Tetlit Gwich'in , Taku-floden Tlingit ).
