Henry Hawley Smart ( Eng. Henry Hawley Smart ; 3. juni 1833 , Dover , Kent - 8. januar 1893 , Devon ) - britisk forfatter . Skrev under pseudonymet "Captain Hawley Smart" .
Biografi
Søn af en major i den britiske kongelige hær, barnebarn af oberstkommandanten af Dover Castle .
Modtog hjemmeundervisning. Efter familietradition gik han i 1849 ind i den britiske hær som en fænrik for den 1. kongelige skotte under kommando af den fremtidige Lord Raglan .
Medlem af Krimkrigen (1853-1856), i 1855 fik han rang af kaptajn. I 1857 blev han sendt til Indien , hvor han tjente og deltog i undertrykkelsen af sepoyoprøret . I 1858 sluttede han sig til det 17. (Leicestershire) regiment stationeret i Canada . I 1864 forlod han Quebec og gik derefter på pension.
Engageret i litterære aktiviteter.
Kreativitet
Forfatter til en række bøger om hestevæddeløb, om jagtemner, militære konflikter i Storbritannien, ofte skrevet på baggrund af personlige erfaringer, adskillige detektivhistorier .
