La Albuera

La Albuera ( spansk:  La Albuera ) er en by og kommune i Spanien , en del af provinsen Badajoz som en del af den selvstyrende region Extremadura . Kommunen er en del af regionen (comarca) Tierra de Barros . Det optager et areal på 26 km². Befolkning - 2030 personer (for 2010 ). Afstanden til provinshovedstaden er 24 kilometer.

I militærhistorien er byen bedst kendt for slaget , der fandt sted her den 16. maj 1811 mellem de britisk - spansk - portugisiske og franske hære under Napoleonskrigene . Som et resultat af slaget på slagmarken lagde 15 tusinde soldater fra begge sider deres hoveder, og selvom nederlaget tilskrives franskmændene, var tabene næsten de samme (henholdsvis 7 og 8 tusinde) [2] .
