Den tredje Asian Film Awards (AFA) blev afholdt den 23. marts 2009 som en del af Hong Kong Film Festival . Priserne blev uddelt til de bedste asiatiske film i den internationale distribution i 2008.
De nominerede blev annonceret den 21. januar 2009.
I 2009 blev nomineringen "Bedste debutant" tilføjet specielt for debuterende instruktører.
