Fuengirola ( spansk  Fuengirola ) er en by og kommune i Spanien ved Middelhavskysten , en del af provinsen Malaga , som en del af det autonome samfund Andalusien . Kommunen er en del af Costa del Sol Occidental -distriktet (comarca) . Den tredje tættest befolkede by i Spanien [2] .

Fuengirola er et populært badested på Costa del Sol . Strandene i Fuengirola er blevet tildelt det blå flag . Byen har et vandland og en biopark . I udkanten af ​​byen ligger ruinerne af den arabiske fæstning Soail .

Historie

Fuengirola blev grundlagt af fønikerne , i byens historie var der også romerske, byzantinske, vestgotiske og arabiske perioder, indtil byen i 1485 endelig overgik til den spanske krone. Udviklingen af ​​Fuengirola blev hindret af pirateri , som blomstrede i regionen i århundreder.
