Cartaya ( spansk  Cartaya ) er en by og kommune i Spanien , en del af provinsen Huelva , en del af det autonome samfund Andalusien . Kommunen er en del af regionen (comarca) Costa Occidental . Det optager et areal på 226 km². Befolkning - 18.415 personer (for 2010 ). Afstand - 35 km til provinshovedstaden.

Toponymi og symboler

Toponymet "Cartaya" ser ud til at være af fønikisk oprindelse: carteia , kan oversættes til "by". Den kommunale heraldik er som følger: på en grøn baggrund står et slot af guld på et bjerg vasket af sølv og azurblå bølger, på hver side af slottet er der to mace-bærere. Alle elementer er placeret på en rød baggrund. Skjoldet blev vedtaget ved dekret af 21. juli 1972 og trykt i den officielle statsbulletin af 24. august samme år. Kommuneflaget har følgende beskrivelse: rødt med seks striber i bunden, tre hvide og tre blå, i midten er lokalvåben. Flaget blev vedtaget på den kommunale plenarforsamling den 10. august 1998 .
