Combichrist er et amerikansk aggrotech / industrielt metal- projekt skabt af den norske musiker Andy LaPlagua , frontmand af Icon Of Coil , i 2003.
Historie
I 2003 indspillede Andy adskillige power noise- spor. Dette projekt fik navnet Drive. Før udgivelsen af The Joy Of Gunz ' debutalbum på Out Of Line -pladen blev det ændret til Combichrist. [4] Ordet blev taget fra et fan - hardcore magasin udgivet af Andy med JR Ewing, guitaristen af Håkon Mella, i slutningen af 90'erne. La Plegua flyttede snart til USA, hvor Combichrist og hans andre projekter som Scandy , Panzer AG og Scandinavian Cock nu er hovedresidensen .
På Halloween 2003 blev EP'en Kiss The Blade udgivet i et begrænset oplag og blev udsolgt med det samme. I 2004 nåede EP'en Sex, Drogen Und Industrial nummer et i 7 på hinanden følgende uger på de tyske alternative hitlister ( DAC Charts ). I 2005 udkom albummet Everybody Hates You . I løbet af denne tid begyndte bandet aktivt at bruge udtrykket TBM (Techno Body Music) til at beskrive deres lyd. Gruppen udgav endda nummeret "This is TBM" på Techno Body Music Vol. 1 Out of Line etiket .
EP'en Get Your Body Beat (2006) placerede igen Combichrist på toppen af hitlisterne i mange lande. I marts 2007 udkom det næste album What The Fuck Is Wrong With You People? , som slog alle salgsrekorder for både Out of Line og Metropolis Records . Combichrist udgav deres seneste album Today We Are All Demons den 20. januar 2009. Bandet tilføjede også en ny trommeslager, Trevor Friedrich, som tidligere har turneret med Eighteen Visions og Imperative Reaction . Den 7. maj 2009 udgav Combichrist en ny Heat EP: All Pain Is Beat . I november 2009 begyndte Rammstein- turneen til støtte for albummet Liebe ist für alle da , Combichrist annoncerede som det officielle supportband.
I 2010 udkom EP'en Scarred og EP'en Never Surrender , en samling Noise Collection Vol. 1 , samt det femte album: Making Monsters .
I 2009-2011 var de åbningsakten for Rammstein på Liebe ist für alle da tour .
I 2011, samtidig med udgivelsen af Throat Full of Glass EP'en , blev en video af samme navn udgivet.
Bandets kompositioner blev også vist på soundtracket til multi-platform slasheren DmC: Devil May Cry , udgivet i januar 2013 på Playstation 3 , Xbox 360 og PC . Det førte til en kraftig stigning i gruppens popularitet – før det var den mindre kendt af verdenssamfundet. Selve albummet hed No Redemption . I den har bandets lyd ændret sig meget og viser stærk metal og hardcore. Numrene indeholdt musikere som Abbey Nex ( Psyclon Nine ) og Ruslan Zhelegotov , trommeslager for det norske dark ambient-band Mortiis .
I 2014 udkom det syvende studiealbum We Love You , og en video blev optaget til singlen fra dette album "Maggots at the party".
